What is Fundraise Up?
A web-based donation platform for nonprofits that adds checkout and campaign tools to an organization's own website, either as a modal overlay or a hosted Campaign Page. The vendor lists donor-facing Elements (buttons, sliders, progress bars), a Donor Portal for managing gifts and recurring plans, and campaigns in 25 languages.
Who it's for
Nonprofits that take online donations and want a donation form, recurring-giving tools and a donor self-service portal, including organizations with multiple chapters that can share or separate bank accounts. The vendor describes itself as a platform for nonprofits and does not describe it as a tool for individuals or for-profit businesses.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The pricing page says there is $0 upfront, no setup fees, no fixed subscriptions and no long-term contracts, and that it includes unlimited users, donors and features plus onboarding and migration support at no charge.
- The pricing page lists payment methods including cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, cryptocurrency, iDEAL and Wero, and direct bank transfers; the product page also lists PayPal, Venmo, Cash App Pay and bank debits such as ACH (US), Bacs (UK), BECS (Australia), pre-authorized debit (Canada) and SEPA (Europe).
- The integrations page lists native real-time CRM syncs for Salesforce (including NPSP and Nonprofit Cloud), HubSpot, Bonterra EveryAction, DonorPerfect, Neon CRM, Virtuous, Bloomerang and Kindful, plus Zapier, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Double the Donation; it says Raiser's Edge NXT syncs through partners rather than natively.
- The vendor's security page says it holds PCI DSS Level 1 (v4.0.1), SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and that card data is tokenized through Stripe so it is not stored on its servers; the page says it uses AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit.
- The vendor's AI pages describe suggested gift amounts, AI-based fee-coverage prompts, recurring-upgrade prompts, card-decline retries and fraud screening; the revenue and fraud-block figures on those pages are the vendor's own claims.
- The vendor lists single sign-on through Okta, Google Identity, Microsoft Entra ID and any SAML 2.0 provider.
Limitations
- No fee rate is published: the pricing page says Fundraise Up takes a small share of donations processed and gives an effective cost of 'around 1% on average' excluding payment processing, but says this is not a contracted or guaranteed rate and can vary by organization. The pages read give no payout timing, minimums, or cancellation terms.
- Payment processing fees (such as Stripe's) are charged on top of the Fundraise Up fee; the vendor says donors are asked to cover both and most do, but the pages read do not state the processing rates. A competitor's blog post (BetterWorld, which sells a rival platform) says the fee is 4% plus Stripe at 2.9% + $0.30; this does not match the vendor's 'around 1%' average and could not be confirmed on an official page.
- The pages read list no nonprofit-specific discount or free tier; there is a single fee-per-donation model and no separate plans, so cost depends on donation volume and fee coverage rather than a flat price. Confirm terms with the vendor.
- Raiser's Edge NXT is not a native integration (it syncs through partners such as SimpliPhi or Brightvine), and Mailchimp syncs only through Zapier, per the integrations page.
- Donor data: the vendor's data FAQ says your organization is the Data Controller and Fundraise Up the Data Processor, that it may use supporter data only for purposes you define, and that data is stored mainly in the United States with additional servers in the EU and Canada (some teams outside the EU can access data). The AI page says models were built from a dataset of transactions and non-PII data points but does not say whether an individual client's donor data trains shared models; the data FAQ does not mention AI training.
Plans and pricing
- Performance-based (single model): $0 upfront; fee per donation. No setup fees, subscription or contract. Fundraise Up takes a small share of donations processed; the vendor gives an effective cost of around 1% on average excluding payment processing, not guaranteed. Unlimited users, donors and features. Exact percentage not published.
- Payment processing (Stripe, PayPal and others): Set by the processor. Charged on each donation in addition to the Fundraise Up fee. Donors are asked to cover both fees. Rates are not listed on the vendor pages read.
Read from fundraiseup.com/pricing and the Pricing FAQ. The vendor publishes no price list, plan tiers or exact fee percentage, so card pricing is shown as custom. One independent competitor blog post reports a 4% platform fee, which conflicts with the vendor's 'around 1% on average' figure; confirm on the live pricing page or with the vendor.
