What is Suno AI?
Suno is a web service that generates songs, including vocals and instruments, from text prompts or uploaded audio. Paid plans add stem separation, longer uploads and Suno Studio, an editing workspace.
Who it's for
People who want to make songs from text or audio without recording them. Suno's pricing page ties commercial rights, more credits and editing tools such as stems and Suno Studio to the paid tiers.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The Free plan gives 50 credits a day, which Suno's help center says is enough for about 10 songs a day
- Pro and Premier include commercial use rights, and the help center says these rights stay with songs made while subscribed, even after cancelling
- Paid plans use a priority queue with up to 10 songs generating at once, against 4 on Free
- Premier lists Suno Studio (MIDI, effects, automation, plugins), three stem separation types, and adding vocals or instrumentals to existing songs
- Pro and Premier can buy extra credits and downloads, and audio uploads go up to 30 minutes on paid plans against 8 on Free
Limitations
- The Free plan has no commercial rights. The help center says Suno keeps ownership of Free-plan songs and allows only non-commercial use of them (article edited 7 January 2026)
- Ownership depends on the plan when the song was made: Pro and Premier subscribers own the songs they make while subscribed, per the same article
- Downloads are capped on paid plans, at 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier. Suno Studio workflows do not count toward the cap (help article edited 3 September 2026)
- The Free plan has no monthly song downloads and no stem separation. A help article of 3 September 2026 says accounts created on or after that date get only occasional trial downloads, which cannot be used commercially
- Subscription credits do not roll over from day to day or month to month. Top-up credits do not expire but need an active subscription to use
- Suno Studio, three-type stem separation and adding vocals or instruments to existing songs are listed under Premier only
- Music Business Worldwide reported that Warner Music Group and Suno announced a settlement and licensing partnership on 25 November 2025, with Suno saying it plans licensed models in 2026. The same report says Denmark's Koda and Germany's GEMA continue their claims against Suno
Plans and pricing
- Free: $0. 50 credits a day, shared queue with up to 4 concurrent generations, no commercial rights, no monthly song downloads, uploads up to 8 minutes.
- Pro: $8 a month on the pricing page, which we read as annual billing; $10 a month if billed monthly, per an independent source. 2,500 credits a month, 20 song downloads a month, priority queue with up to 10 songs at once, commercial use rights, 2 stem separation types, uploads up to 30 minutes, extra credits and downloads can be bought.
- Premier: $24 a month on the pricing page, which we read as annual billing; $30 a month if billed monthly, per an independent source. 10,000 credits a month, 60 song downloads a month, priority queue with up to 10 songs at once, commercial use rights, Suno Studio, 3 stem separation types, adding vocals or instrumentals to existing songs.
Prices and limits are from Suno's pricing page and help center. The pricing page does not label whether $8 and $24 are annual-billing rates; they fit its yearly-savings text only if so, and an independent tracker lists the monthly-billing prices, so check the billing toggle on the live page. The help center calls the free tier Basic in one article and Free in others, and we did not read the Terms of Service directly.
