About each tool

Suno AI

Generates songs with vocals and instruments from text prompts or uploaded audio. Free daily credits; commercial use needs a paid plan. Pro is $8 a month (annual billing, as listed).

Who it is for

People who want to make songs from text or audio without recording them. Suno's pricing page ties commercial rights, more credits and editing tools such as stems and Suno Studio to the paid tiers.

Strengths

  • The Free plan gives 50 credits a day, which Suno's help center says is enough for about 10 songs a day
  • Pro and Premier include commercial use rights, and the help center says these rights stay with songs made while subscribed, even after cancelling
  • Paid plans use a priority queue with up to 10 songs generating at once, against 4 on Free
  • Premier lists Suno Studio (MIDI, effects, automation, plugins), three stem separation types, and adding vocals or instrumentals to existing songs
  • Pro and Premier can buy extra credits and downloads, and audio uploads go up to 30 minutes on paid plans against 8 on Free

Limitations

  • Ownership depends on the plan when the song was made: Pro and Premier subscribers own the songs they make while subscribed, per the same article
  • Downloads are capped on paid plans, at 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier. Suno Studio workflows do not count toward the cap (help article edited 3 September 2026)
  • Music Business Worldwide reported that Warner Music Group and Suno announced a settlement and licensing partnership on 25 November 2025, with Suno saying it plans licensed models in 2026. The same report says Denmark's Koda and Germany's GEMA continue their claims against Suno

Mubert

Generates music from text, mood or image prompts. Creator (non-commercial) is $11.69 a month billed annually; Pro, for monetized use, is $32.49 a month billed annually.

Who it is for

Mubert's FAQ points creators and non-monetized YouTube channels to Creator, monetized content and indie games to Pro, and larger game developers, agencies and apps to Business or the API. The free Ambassador plan is limited to personal projects.

Strengths

  • Mubert's pricing page lists 500 tracks a month on Creator and Pro, and 1,000 on Business, each with unlimited downloads and tracks up to 25 minutes.
  • Mubert lists lossless WAV plus MP3 export on paid plans, and a Staff Picks library of 12,000 tracks on all plans.
  • Mubert says every download includes a license certificate, and advises keeping it because a platform or client may ask where the music came from.
  • Mubert says tracks are built from samples recorded by human artists, who are paid, and that the generator is trained on a proprietary dataset.
  • Mubert lists a Full Track Editor on Pro and Business, and Edit Stems plus duration changes on Creator; Quick Remix is available on every plan.
  • Mubert's API plans list text-to-music and image-to-music generation, and webhooks, lossless audio and monetized content from the Startup plan.

Limitations

  • Creator is for non-commercial content; the FAQ says monetized posts and channels need Pro, and apps or client work need Business or the API. Mubert's license page lists Subscription Creator without boosted posts, paid ads or TV broadcast.
  • Mubert's pages bar selling tracks, releasing them on streaming services, Content ID registration, and distribution through stock or music libraries. After a subscription ends, downloaded tracks cannot be used in new projects, though work already published can stay published.
  • The pricing page lists Commercial Usage, Freelance & Agency Work and App & Services among the Free and Creator features, which conflicts with their non-commercial labels, the FAQ and the license page.
