Speechify is a text-to-speech app that reads documents, web pages and PDFs aloud, and also offers dictation, AI summaries and chat about content. The company also sells Studio, a separate product for voiceovers and dubbing, and an API for developers.
Who it's for
People who want text read aloud on a phone, desktop or browser, such as students and readers of long documents. Studio targets creators making voiceovers or dubbing, and the API targets developers adding voice to apps.

- Speechify lists iPhone and iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, a web app, a Chrome extension and an Edge add-on
- Premium lists voices in 60+ languages and playback up to 5x speed
- Premium adds Scan and Listen, AI summaries and chat, voice typing, AI podcasts and Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive integrations
- Studio has a free tier of 600 credits, and its paid tiers allow commercial use
Limitations
- The Free plan has 10 basic voices, playback up to 1.5x and text-to-speech features only. The iPhone app library is limited to 5 files
- Premium voice use is capped in words per month. Speechify says at least 150,000, and its usage page also states a higher allowance during 2026
- Studio credits are metered per second: voiceover 1 credit, dubbing 3 credits and avatars 30 credits per second
- Free Studio is not for commercial use and requires Speechify attribution when published
- Studio voice cloning requires the voice owner's consent and disclosure that the audio is AI-generated
- Speechify's privacy policy says content is used to improve features and algorithms, and the Studio terms let it use uploaded content to improve its services and models
Plans and pricing
- Free: $0. 10 basic voices, up to 1.5x speed, text-to-speech only.
- Premium (yearly): $139 a year (about $11.58 a month). The figure is from Speechify's blog; the pricing page shows a yearly toggle without stating it. Unlimited library, 60+ languages, up to 5x speed.
- Premium (monthly): $29 a month. Billed monthly. App-store prices may differ.
- Studio Free: $0. 600 credits. Not for commercial use.
- Studio Starter: $100 a year. 86,400 credits, commercial use, and stock media.
- Studio Creator: $300 a year. 345,600 credits, everything in Starter.
The API pricing page redirected to a page we could not read, so API prices are not listed. Speechify's own pages disagree on the voice count (1,000+ on the pricing page, 200+ on the comparison page), so we leave it out. The yearly Premium price is from Speechify's blog only.
