What is Perplexity Pro?

Perplexity is an AI search and assistant service that answers questions with cited sources. Pro is the paid consumer tier, with higher search, Research, file-upload and agent limits and access to a selectable set of third-party and Perplexity models.

Who it's for

Individuals who do research or multi-step searches and want higher limits than the Free plan. Verified students and educators have a separate Education Pro plan, and teams and organizations are directed to Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max.

Enterprise plans state that organization data is never used to train or fine-tune Perplexity's models, and the Enterprise Pro article says Perplexity is SOC 2 Type II certified

Limitations

The Free plan has 3 Pro Searches a day and 1 Research query a month, with no advanced models, no image generation and no browser agent
Paid-plan limits are not published as numbers. The comparison page says Pro has weekly limits for Pro Searches and monthly limits for Research, browser agent queries and file or app creation, based on average use
The Pro article says access to advanced model queries may be limited during weeks of especially heavy usage
Training on user data is on by default for Free, Pro and Max. Opting out applies only to data collected afterward, and training data already collected cannot be deleted
The model list changes over time, and some models and features, such as Model Council, are Max or Enterprise Max only
A subscription does not include API access, which is billed separately with prepaid credits

Plans and pricing

Free: $0. 3 Pro Searches a day, 1 Research query a month, no advanced models, no image generation, no browser agent, limited file uploads.
Pro: Reported: $20 a month, or $200 a year (about $16.67 a month) billed annually. Advanced models, Research, Create files and apps, browser agent, image and limited video generation. Limits are weekly or monthly with no published numbers. The price comes from an independent tracker because the official pricing page could not be read.
Education Pro: $10 a month with SheerID verification (help center). Everything in Pro, plus Perplexity Computer and Learn Mode and unlimited Pro Searches. For verified students and educators.
Max: $200 a month, or $2,000 a year billed annually (web app only), per the help center. Everything in Pro with advanced-use limits and the highest browser agent limit. Adds Model Council, Brain (Research Preview), early access and priority support.
Enterprise Pro: From $40 per seat a month, or $400 a year (help center). Seat management, SSO, shared Projects and file connectors. Limits: 400 Pro Searches a week, 50 Research a month, 80 browser agent queries a month. Eligible educational institutions and nonprofits pay $30 per seat a month.
Enterprise Max: $325 a month, or $3,250 a year (help center; seat-based). Everything in Enterprise Pro plus SCIM, audit logs, configurable data retention and an Insights dashboard. Limits: 4,000 Pro Searches a week, 500 Research a month, 800 browser agent queries a month.
API Platform (separate): Pay as you go with prepaid credits. Separate from subscriptions, with no complimentary API credits. Charges depend on tokens processed and searches made.

Plan structure, limits, Max and Enterprise prices and privacy statements are from Perplexity's help center. We could not read the official pricing page or the API pricing docs, so the Pro price is reported by an independent tracker, and the card's 'billed yearly' figure is the annual price divided by 12.
