What is LALAL.AI?
LALAL.AI is an audio tool that separates songs and recordings into vocals, instrumentals and instrument stems. It also lists a voice cleaner, voice changer, voice cloner, and echo and reverb remover, and runs on web, Windows/macOS/Linux desktop, iOS, Android, VST plugins and an API.
Who it's for
It suits people who need to pull stems or clean voices out of audio or video files, such as for remixing, editing or dialogue cleanup. The vendor's own pricing FAQ says Starter is for testing quality, Lite for regular use, and Pro for the VST plugin, local desktop processing and API access.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The homepage lists a Vocal Remover and Stem Splitter for vocals, drums, bass, guitars, piano, synthesizer, strings and wind, plus a Lead/Back Splitter for lead and backing vocals.
- The homepage lists audio input in MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, AAC and M4A, video input in AVI, MP4, MKV, MOV and M4V, and audio output in MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV and FLAC.
- The vendor says you can preview separated results before processing or downloading the full file, and that Relaxed and Fast queues give the same separation quality.
- The pricing FAQ says one subscription covers web, desktop, iOS and Android with a shared minute balance; the homepage lists an interface in 12 languages including English and Spanish.
- Top-up packs (750, 3,000 or 5,000 Fast Queue minutes) can be bought one time without changing plan, per the pricing page.
- The pricing page says canceling is done under Profile, Manage Subscription; access continues to the end of the billing period and the subscription does not auto-renew after that.
Limitations
- Starter has 10 Relaxed Queue minutes and a 200 MB upload limit, and the homepage says Starter does not allow downloading full results. The pricing page does not say whether the 10 minutes are monthly or one time.
- Minutes are metered as file length times the number of stem types selected (Voice Changer is based on output duration), so multi-stem splits use minutes faster.
- Fast Queue minutes (90 a month on Lite, 250 on Pro) reset each billing period and do not roll over; after they run out, jobs move to the Relaxed Queue, which depends on server load, and you cannot choose the queue manually.
- The pricing FAQ says the VST plugin is Pro only and ties local desktop processing and API access to Pro. Which tiers include result downloads and batch processing could not be read from the page text.
- The pricing page says the subscription is non-refundable. The Refund Policy says payments are generally non-refundable, allows case-by-case refunds for unresolved technical errors, duplicate purchases or billing errors, and counts processing a full file as accepting preview quality.
- The Terms of Service say users must tell audiences when they publish AI-generated or manipulated audio, may not impersonate people without legal authorization, and may not remove watermarks or metadata. The Terms do not state file retention, training use or commercial rights for outputs, and the Privacy Policy could not be read this session.
