What is Topaz Video AI?

Topaz Video (formerly Video AI) is Topaz Labs' video enhancement software, with AI models for upscaling, denoising, sharpening, stabilization, frame interpolation and SDR to HDR. Topaz says it is available for Mac and Windows as a standalone app or plugin, with optional cloud rendering.

Who it's for

Topaz's licensing docs describe the Individual (Personal) plan for prosumers, hobbyists, restorers and freelancers, and the Pro plan for professional users, small studios and agencies. Anyone or any entity with $1 million USD or more in annual revenue needs Pro.

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • Topaz lists unlimited local rendering on the desktop plan, plus 25 monthly cloud video credits on Personal and 100 on Pro (per the docs).
  • Topaz's Video page lists over 20 models, including Proteus, Iris, Nyx, Artemis, Gaia, Chronos (frame interpolation), Themis, Stabilization and SDR to HDR, for Mac and Windows.
  • The cloud rendering docs say failed jobs are refunded, input files up to 100 GB are accepted (AV1, VP9, H.264, H.265) and output goes up to 8K.
  • The docs say Pro includes 1 seat plus up to 4 additional seats on the same account, and 4 simultaneous cloud renders against 1 on Individual.
  • Cloud credits can be bought on top: monthly subscriptions from 80 credits for $9.99 (unused credits roll over up to 5 times the monthly amount) and one-time packs from 20 credits for $5 that never expire.
  • Topaz Video is also included in the Desktop Collection and Topaz Studio bundles, per the docs.

Limitations

  • The vendor's pages disagree on price: the pricing page lists Topaz Video at $59 a month with no annual option, while the licensing docs (effective 9/16/2025) list Individual at $299 a year prepaid or $33 a month on a 12-month commitment ($399 total), and Pro at $699 a year or $67 a month ($799 total).
  • Monthly video credits expire at the end of each month and do not roll over. Cloud renders have limits: Starlight models are capped at 9,000 frames per job, Starlight Sharp outputs at most 1080p, and Rhea XL, Stabilization and SDR to HDR are not supported in the cloud. Cloud renders are kept on Topaz servers for up to 7 days.
  • Personal has limited commercial use (organizations under $1M USD annual revenue); full commercial use is listed on Pro. The docs say Starlight Mini, Sharp, HQ and Fast 2 generally need cloud rendering on a Personal license.
  • Topaz Video has no trial mode: the docs say you can test it for 2 days and ask for a refund within that window. Annual-commitment plans cannot be canceled or refunded during the 12-month term without an extra fee, and used cloud credits are generally non-refundable.
  • Topaz Video is subscription-only and not a free upgrade from the discontinued Video AI perpetual license. The docs say it runs on 1 computer at a time, needs monthly authentication and does not support Intel Macs.

Plans and pricing

  • Personal (annual, prepaid): $299 a year, about $25 a month. Per the licensing docs. 1 seat, unlimited local rendering, 25 monthly cloud video credits, 1 cloud render at a time, limited commercial use.
  • Personal (12-month commitment, paid monthly): $33 a month ($399 total). Per the licensing docs. Same features as Personal annual. Annual commitment cannot be canceled mid-term without a fee.
  • Personal (monthly): $59 a month. Listed on the pricing page as Topaz Video. Unlimited local rendering, 25 monthly cloud video credits, limited commercial use.
  • Pro (annual, prepaid): $699 a year, about $58 a month. Per the licensing docs. 100 monthly cloud video credits, full commercial use, 1 seat plus up to 4 additional seats, 4 simultaneous cloud renders.
  • Pro (12-month commitment, paid monthly): $67 a month ($799 total). Per the licensing docs. Same features as Pro annual. Extra credits $0.07 each.
  • Enterprise: Custom. The docs say to contact enterprise@topazlabs.com for custom needs.

Prices were read from the Topaz pricing page, the Video page and the licensing docs (App & Collection Options). The pricing page shows only $59 a month for Topaz Video, while the docs list annual and 12-month-commitment prices, so Pro prices could not be confirmed on the pricing page. Amounts are in USD and the docs may be older than the live page, so confirm on the live pricing page.

Details checked October 2026 against the vendor's own pages. Prices and limits change, so confirm before you buy. Official pricing page ↗
