What is Tana?
Tana is an AI meeting platform that hosts calls or captures Zoom, Teams and Google Meet calls without a bot, then produces transcripts, summaries and proposed follow-up actions. The homepage mentions a desktop app, and a third-party listing (Reported) adds web, Android and iPhone/iPad.
Who it's for
The pricing page positions it for teams that want meeting memory and issue, CRM and email follow-ups tied to calls, with a Business tier for security and compliance needs (SSO, audit logs, data residency). It is a separate product from Tana Outliner, the company's note-taking outliner, which the homepage links to separately.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The pricing page lists a Free plan that hosts 5 meetings a month with AI transcripts and summaries, connects 1 calendar and includes 50 AI queries.
- The homepage says no bot joins Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, calls can also be hosted in Tana, and guests can join by link without an account.
- The homepage says Tana makes proposals (such as filing issues or drafting follow-ups) that a person must accept, edit or dismiss, and that it does not act without approval.
- The homepage lists integrations with Linear, Jira, GitHub, HubSpot, Slack, Google Calendar and Outlook, plus MCP, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor and Lovable, and a public API; Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are listed as coming soon.
- The terms and security page says Tana completed a SOC 2 Type 2 examination covering March 30 to June 30, 2026 (auditor Prescient Assurance), and that data is encrypted at rest and in transit on Google Cloud.
- The Business tier lists SAML SSO, audit logs, a custom DPA, data residency and retention controls, and a choice of EU or US inference.
Limitations
- The Free plan is capped at 5 hosted meetings a month, 1 connected calendar and 50 AI queries; Pro's AI allowance is only described as 20x the Free plan, with no exact number given.
- The pricing page lists Pro at $20 per user a month as an early-bird price and $30 as the regular price, and shows a Yearly/Monthly toggle whose separate amounts could not be read; yearly plans include a 60-day refund window per the page.
- Business pricing is not published beyond 'from $35 per user a month'; sales contact is needed for details. The pricing page marks HIPAA with an asterisk under Business, while the homepage says HIPAA is in progress with an ETA of Q1 2027.
- Extra AI credits can be bought in custom amounts, never expire and are non-refundable except where required by law, per the pricing page. The SOC 2 report scope covers Tana but not Tana Outliner, and the report is available on request.
- Tana Outliner's help pages describe different plans (Free, Plus, Pro), a 14-day trial with a credit card, and credit quotas; the Tana pricing page lists a 30-day Pro trial with no credit card. Do not mix the two products' terms.
