What is Quadratic?

Quadratic is a spreadsheet with built-in AI that writes formulas, Python, SQL, JavaScript and charts from plain-English questions. It runs as a web app, with a REST API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) support, and connects to databases, files and some business apps.

Who it's for

The site pitches it at people who work with data in spreadsheets and want AI help, from individuals on the free Personal plan to teams on per-user Pro and Business plans. Enterprise is aimed at organizations that need SSO, self-hosting and dedicated support.

Strengths

The homepage lists code cells in Python, SQL and JavaScript alongside standard formulas, and says each AI-generated cell can be opened and edited.
The homepage lists connections to Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, MariaDB, MS SQL, CockroachDB, Supabase and Neon, plus CSV, Excel and PDF files and apps such as QuickBooks, Google Analytics, Mixpanel and Plaid.
The homepage lists a REST API for reading and writing cells and triggering AI runs, MCP support for tools such as Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT, and agent features including Agent Sync and Scheduled Tasks.
The docs say only AI you start (chat messages, code assistant conversations, PDF imports, web searches) counts toward usage; autocomplete, chat naming and agent connection setup are free.
The docs list file export to Excel, CSV and .grid on Pro and Business, and the pricing page lists unlimited sharing, files and connections from Pro up.
The self-hosting docs say individuals can self-host for free with a license key, and that business and enterprise keys are priced per user; AWS and Docker are the officially supported options.

Limitations

The free Personal plan has limited AI usage, sharing, files, connections and support; the docs list a monthly message limit, the default model only and no file export, but give no numbers.
Pro and Business are billed per user for the whole team; adding a member adds a prorated charge on the next bill, and Pro includes $20 and Business $40 of AI credits per user per month.
Buying AI beyond the allowance (on-demand, billed at cost) is listed for Business only; the docs mark it as not available on Pro.
The pricing page shows $18 (Pro) and $36 (Business) per user billed annually with no monthly price, while the docs plan table shows $20 and $40 per user a month.
The homepage says Quadratic is SOC 2 and HIPAA certified, while the security docs page says it is in the audit period for both; the privacy policy and terms pages could not be read here, so training-use and refund terms are unconfirmed.
