What is Pictory?
Pictory is a browser-based tool that turns scripts, articles, web page URLs, slides, audio and recordings into videos with AI voiceover, captions and stock or AI-generated visuals. It runs online on PC and Mac and also offers a Video API for generating branded videos from text, URLs and slides.
Who it's for
Pictory's pricing page offers single-user plans (Starter, Professional), a Team plan for 3 or more users and custom Enterprise pricing for 10 or more users. It suits people who want to produce videos from text or recordings by editing a transcript instead of a timeline.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- Pictory lists input from scripts, articles, one-sentence ideas, URLs, PDF, Doc and PPT files, audio, images and clips, and screen or camera recordings.
- The text-to-video page lists 18M+ stock clips and images (including Getty Images), 170+ AI voices in 29+ languages with voice cloning, and automatic time-synced captions styled to your brand kit.
- Exports are listed in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 as MP4; the pricing page lists 1080p export on paid plans and 720p on the trial.
- The pricing page lists maximum created video length of 30 minutes on all paid plans and recorded-video editing up to 60 minutes (Starter) or 180 minutes (Professional, Team).
- The terms say Pictory does not claim ownership of Customer Content and will not use Customer Content to train machine learning models unless expressly agreed in writing.
- The pricing page says annual plans include the full yearly video-minute allocation upfront, and Team minutes are shared across users.
Limitations
- Video minutes reset each month on monthly plans and unused monthly minutes do not roll over, per the pricing page.
- AI features draw on separate AI credits: the avatar page says a ready-made avatar uses 15 credits per 30 seconds of video, so the 100 monthly Starter credits go quickly.
- Custom avatars and voice cloning are listed from Professional up (2 each on Professional, 2 per user on Team); the avatar page says custom avatars are for Pro, Teams and Enterprise.
- Premium ElevenLabs voice minutes are capped per plan (60 a month on Starter, 120 on Professional, 240 on Team, per the pricing cards).
- The pricing page disagrees with itself: Starter AI credits are 100 on the cards and one table but 200 in another; Professional premium music is 10,000 tracks in one table and 15,000 in another; Team voice minutes are 240 on the cards but up to 420 in a second table.
- The pricing page says Pictory does not offer refunds on paid subscriptions, and its FAQ says projects are permanently deleted on cancellation, so download them first. The terms say fees are non-refundable and cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.
Plans and pricing
- Free trial: $0 for 14 days. No ongoing free plan on the main pricing cards: 15 video minutes, 50 AI credits, 3 video projects, 720p, 1 brand kit, 5-minute maximum created video.
- Starter: $25 a month billed annually, or $29 monthly. 1 user, 200 video minutes a month (2,400 a year), 100 AI credits a month, 5 GB storage, 1 brand kit, 1080p.
- Professional: $35 a month billed annually, or $59 monthly. 1 user, 600 video minutes a month (7,200 a year), 500 AI credits a month, 20 GB storage, 5 brand kits, custom avatars and voice cloning.
- Team: $119 a month billed annually, or $199 monthly. 3 or more users, 1,800 shared video minutes a month (21,600 a year), 2,400 AI credits a month, 100 GB storage, 10 brand kits, shared workspace.
- Enterprise: Custom. 10 or more users, custom limits; the page lists SSO, SCORM export, a dedicated success manager and custom templates.
Prices and limits were read from the official pricing page (USD; annual-billing monthly equivalents and monthly prices both shown) and cross-checked against the terms and the avatar and text-to-video pages. The older short profile listed a Free tier; the pricing page now describes a 14-day trial, though one comparison table still has a Free column. The help-center FAQ could not be fetched this session.
