What is D-ID?

D-ID is a platform that turns text, audio or a still image into videos of talking AI avatars, with a web Studio, a developer API and interactive AI agents. The Studio runs in a browser on desktop and mobile, and the vendor also lists a mobile app.

Who it's for

The vendor aims the Studio at businesses and individual creators making avatar videos for commercial and creative purposes, and offers an API for developers. The Lite plan is limited to non-commercial use under the terms, so it is not meant for business content.

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • D-ID says the Studio can turn text, audio or still images into avatar videos, using stock avatars, an uploaded face image or a generated portrait.
  • The Studio page lists voice cloning and translation into 40+ languages with lip movements adjusted, while the FAQ says the Studio supports 119 languages (the two pages give different figures).
  • The vendor lists a developer API, including real-time streaming, that draws from the same credit balance as the Studio; its FAQ says API streaming customers pay half the credit price.
  • Credits are metered simply: the FAQ says each credit covers up to 15 seconds of video, so a 40-second video uses 3 credits.
  • The FAQ lists ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 certifications, TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, encryption at rest, and erasure of temporary data after 24 hours.
  • The Studio page says the platform does not use customer content for model training; every new account gets 200 free Agent conversation sessions per the FAQ.

Limitations

  • Credits and minutes renew monthly and do not accumulate; the FAQ and terms say unused credits expire.
  • The Trial lasts 14 days, adds a full-screen D-ID watermark and is limited to non-commercial use under the terms; the Lite plan keeps a D-ID watermark and is also non-commercial only.
  • Per the FAQ, Pro and Advanced videos carry a generic AI watermark; Enterprise users can customize it but not remove it. Third-party sources report that only Advanced allows a custom logo, so check the exact watermark rules per plan.
  • The Lite plan does not support premium presenters or 1080p output, per the Studio page, which lists a 5-minute maximum video length; one third-party source says 30 minutes.
  • The terms say payments are nonrefundable except where stated, and to avoid the next charge you must cancel at least 15 days before the billing period ends; the help center does not describe a refund policy. The terms grant D-ID a broad, perpetual license to your submissions and require you to hold consent for any face or voice you upload.

Plans and pricing

  • Trial: $0. 14 days. Reported: about 3 video minutes, full-screen D-ID watermark, non-commercial use only.
  • Lite: Reported: $5.90 a month, or $56 a year (about $4.70 a month). Reported: 10 minutes a month, D-ID watermark, 1 personal avatar. Non-commercial use only per the terms; no premium presenters.
  • Pro: Reported: $29 a month, or about $16 a month billed annually. Reported: 15 minutes a month, commercial use, generic AI watermark, 3 personal avatars, 1 voice clone.
  • Advanced: Reported: $196 a month, or about $108 a month billed annually. Reported: 100 minutes a month, commercial use, custom logo in place of the watermark, 5 personal avatars, 3 voice clones.
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing. Vendor lists it; reported to include team collaboration, SAML/SSO and custom avatars and agents. Contact D-ID.
  • API plans (Build, Launch, Scale): Reported: $14.40, $35 and $138.60 a month. Reported by one third-party source; separate API pricing page could not be read. Shares the credit balance with the Studio.

The official Studio pricing page could not be read in full (its plan tables did not load), so plan prices and allowances are marked Reported and come from third-party pricing summaries that agree with each other on Pro and Advanced; one of them says the Lite price varies by offer, and older pages list Lite at $5.99 and Advanced at $299 a month. Prices are in USD; the vendor says annual plans are billed once a year at a discounted monthly rate. Confirm on the live pricing page.

Details checked October 2026 against the vendor's own pages. Prices and limits change, so confirm before you buy. Official pricing page ↗
