About each tool

Replit Agent

AI agent in Replit that builds, tests and publishes apps from plain-language prompts. Free Starter plan; Core is $18 a month billed annually ($20 monthly).

Who it is for

People who want to build and publish web or mobile apps, dashboards, prototypes or slides from a description, including non-programmers. The Pro plan is aimed at larger groups of builders (up to 15) and parallel Agent tasks.

Strengths

  • Plan mode lets you review and approve an ordered task list before Agent changes any code or data
  • Checkpoints let you roll a project back to earlier states
  • Agent tests its own work, and one project can hold web, mobile, slides, video and data-visualization outputs that share the same backend and data
  • Free Mode covers everyday Agent work on Core and Pro within an allowance that resets every five hours, with weekly limits
  • Per-checkpoint costs show in the Agent tab, and Billing settings offer usage alerts and hard budget caps

Limitations

  • Paid Agent work uses effort-based pricing: each completed request becomes a checkpoint, simple fixes typically cost less than complex builds, and Plan mode can incur billable reasoning even when no code changes
  • Credits also pay for deployments, storage, databases and other cloud services, and calls to third-party model APIs are billed at the provider's public rate and deducted from credits
  • Starter (free) has limited monthly cloud credits, a daily Agent allowance and one published app that expires after 30 days but can be republished. Exact Starter amounts are not published in the docs we read
  • Core credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over, and Core allows 1 parallel Agent task and up to 5 collaborators. Pro credits roll over for two months
  • Deployments cost extra once credits run out. Autoscale is $2 a month plus usage, a Reserved VM is $15 to $130 a month by size, and static hosting is free apart from $0.05 per GiB of outbound transfer

Bolt.new

Browser-based AI builder for websites, web apps and mobile apps, with hosting, databases and GitHub sync. Free plan with daily token limits; Pro is $25 a month.

Who it is for

People who want to build and publish websites, web apps or prototypes from text prompts without installing anything. Teams and organizations are covered by separate Teams and Enterprise plans.

Strengths

  • It runs in the browser with nothing to install, using WebContainers
  • The Free plan includes publishing to a bolt.host address, public and private projects, and an unlimited number of databases
  • Publishing does not use tokens
  • The GitHub integration commits after each change that does not break the project, and a project can be downloaded as a ZIP
  • Mobile apps can be built through the Expo integration, and Version History restores the version saved after each prompt

Limitations

  • The Free plan has 300K tokens a day and 1M a month, and the daily allowance does not carry over. At the daily cap you can still edit code in Code view without using tokens
  • Free sites show a Made in Bolt badge, have no custom domains, and get 10 GB of bandwidth and 333,333 requests a month. Sites go offline at the limit until the next cycle
  • Using Supabase databases requires a Pro or Teams plan
  • Subscriptions are non-refundable under the Terms of Service, and the vendor says it has no public API, CLI or SDK
