What is Transifex?
Transifex is a cloud platform for managing localization of software, websites and other content, with AI translation (called XTM IQ on the pricing page) plus translation memory, glossary and review workflows. It runs as a web platform with Git integrations, SDKs, a CLI, an API and app connectors.
Who it's for
The pricing page lists CI/CD integration, over-the-air delivery, connectors (Figma, Sketch, Contentful, Zendesk, HubSpot, Slack) and human review routing, which points to product and content teams localizing apps and websites at volume. It is sold through sales rather than self-serve, so very small teams that want a listed price will not find one.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- The pricing page says the single plan has unlimited collaborators, hosted content and projects, and that seats never affect the price.
- The pricing page says billing covers only words translated by its AI engine; human review and post-editing add no usage, and hosted words are included at no charge.
- The pricing page lists Git integrations (GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, GitLab), SDKs, CLI, over-the-air delivery, API and webhooks, and 46+ file formats.
- The pricing page lists translation memory with TMX import/export, a glossary with term checks, screenshots for context, validation checks with custom regular expressions, and automatic quality scoring (TQI) with optional auto-approve.
- The pricing page lists SSO and 2FA as included and names SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and EU AI Act compliance.
- The Terms say you retain full ownership of your words, including translated content, and that content is not shared with others unless you direct it.
Limitations
- No price is published: the pricing page shows a word-range selector but no rates, says the per-word rate falls as volume grows, and directs you to contact sales.
- No free plan or free trial is mentioned on the pricing page or in the Terms. A third-party tracker (PricingSaaS, Reported) says earlier Starter and Growth plans had a Try free sign-up until Oct 5, 2026.
- Third-party machine translation and MT Fillup are not part of the plan, and professional linguists (partner network or your own) are billed separately by the reviewer or agency.
- Vendor pages disagree: the pricing page shows one plan (labeled Scale in the page text read; PricingSaaS calls it the AI-First Plan), while a help FAQ still names Starter, Growth and Enterprise plans and an AI Words add-on from $504 (20,000 words) to $3,492 (200,000 words), with usage blocked at the limit.
- The Terms say subscriptions auto-renew, fees are due in advance and non-refundable, early cancellation gets no refund, and renewal fees may rise up to the then-current list price. The Terms do not state whether customer data is used to train AI models.
Plans and pricing
- AI-based single plan (Scale / AI-First): Contact sales. Billed per AI-translated word at a volume-based rate; collaborators, hosted content and projects are unlimited; human review does not count toward usage.
- Free plan or trial: Not listed. None mentioned on the pricing page or in the Terms.
- Legacy Starter, Growth, Enterprise (Reported): Not listed on vendor pages. A help FAQ still names them and says legacy plans are no longer renewed after migration. PricingSaaS (Reported) says Starter was $135 a month billed annually and Growth $200 a month billed annually before prices were hidden in Aug 2026.
Prices were read from the official pricing page, which lists no amounts, and from a help FAQ that lists only AI Words add-on packages. The help FAQ's AI Words figures are dollar amounts with no stated billing period; the legacy plan prices come from a third-party tracker. Confirm on the live pricing page.
