What is Tines?

Tines is a workflow automation platform for security and IT teams, where users build workflows (called stories) that connect tools. Its pages list AI features inside those workflows, such as an AI Agent action, the Workbench AI assistant and an AI SOC use case, and it can run as a cloud service or be self-hosted on Business and Enterprise.

Who it's for

Tines says it is for IT and Security teams, and also Finance, People and Operations teams, that want to build automations and AI agents with governance and visibility. It describes Community Edition as suited to proofs of concept, learning and building a business case.

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • Tines lists a forever-free Community Edition that includes Workflow Essentials, Workflow Controls and SSO, with 3 flows, 1 user and 25,000 events a month.
  • Tines says Community Edition includes AI features such as AI agents and the Workbench assistant, with Workbench limited to 20 daily messages tenant-wide.
  • Tines docs say Business and Enterprise customers can use their own AI model, and custom models use no Tines AI credits.
  • Tines says it does not use customer data to train its AI, and its page on Tines-managed OpenAI models says requests route to your deployment region (US or EU) by default.
  • Tines says customers control how long data is kept in workflow history, and it cites audit logging, role-based access control and change control for oversight of AI use.
  • Tines docs say Business and Enterprise editions are available for self-hosting, and Enterprise adds tenant management features (custom roles, SCIM) and a dedicated cloud tenant.

Limitations

  • Business and Enterprise prices are not published; Tines docs say to contact Tines or book a demo, and Business AI credit amounts are listed only as Contact Tines.
  • Community Edition is capped at 3 flows, 1 team, 1 user and 25,000 events a month, and Tines docs say add-ons (Cases, Tunnels, extra flows and others) are for Business and Enterprise only.
  • AI credits are metered: Tines docs say 1 credit equals $0.01, charged on actual usage, with Community getting 50 credits a month that reset on the 1st and do not roll over; AI runs may pause when credits run out.
  • Community Edition has SSO only for security; audit logs, JIT provisioning, change control, Records, Dashboards and Workflow as API sit in the Business and Enterprise feature sets.
  • Accounts that moved to a paid edition before June 25, 2025 may be on older pricing models that differ, per Tines docs; the official pricing page could not be read this session, so an earlier note about its free-edition AI allowance is unconfirmed.

Plans and pricing

  • Community (free): $0. Forever-free; 3 flows, 1 team, 1 user, 25,000 events a month, 50 AI credits a month; SSO only; no add-ons. Extra AI credits can be bought as top-ups.
  • Business: Contact sales. Flows starting at 30, 100 users, 1.5M events a day, 3 apps; adds Security Essentials, Team Essentials and Advanced Workflows; add-ons and self-hosting available. Price not published.
  • Enterprise: Contact sales. Limits set with Tines, 5 apps; adds Enterprise Tenant Management and a dedicated cloud tenant; add-ons and self-hosting available. Price not published.

Editions and limits were read from Tines help articles (updated August 2026, feature list as of May 1, 2026) and the Community Edition page. The official pricing page could not be fetched this session, and the help articles list no dollar prices for paid editions. Confirm on the live pricing page.
