What is Gem?

Gem is a recruiting platform that combines an applicant tracking system (ATS), a candidate CRM, AI sourcing, interview scheduling and hiring analytics. It runs as a web app, and teams can use it as an all-in-one system or add it on top of an existing ATS.

Who it's for

Gem says it is built for talent acquisition teams, from early-stage startups (under 30 employees) to enterprises, and it also lists a staffing solution. The pricing page quotes by company headcount, so it is aimed at organizations hiring through a team rather than individual job seekers.

Pros & cons

Strengths

  • Gem lists an ATS with requisitions, job posting, scorecards, offers, approval workflows and built-in e-signatures, plus a CRM with automated outreach sequences.
  • Gem says its AI Sourcing searches 800M+ public profiles plus your own CRM/ATS data and adds email addresses; the help center lists this as a paid add-on.
  • Gem says it integrates natively with Greenhouse, Workday, Lever and iCIMS, and the ATS page names Checkr, BrightHire, DocuSign and CodeSignal; AI agents can be used without switching ATS.
  • The help center lists AI features included for all customers: sequence template generation, AI scorecard summaries, AI prospect search, AI skill suggestions for application review and AI company descriptions.
  • Gem lists GeMCP, which connects Gem data to AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude while existing access controls stay in place.
  • Gem lists a startup program: companies under 30 employees get Gem All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off when they move to a paid plan.

Limitations

  • The two main plans (Gem + Your ATS and Gem All-in-One) have no published prices; both are custom quotes by company headcount through sales.
  • The pricing page mentions no free trial or permanent free plan; the only free period is the six-month startup offer for companies under 30 employees.
  • AI Sourcing and AI-powered Application Review are paid add-ons bought through an account manager, and the AI Fraud Detection Agent is listed as an optional add-on with no price. Advanced scheduling features are also add-ons.
  • Gem's own pages disagree on the startup starting price: the homepage says plans start at $135 a month, while the pricing page shows $270 and $130 per month for 1-10 FTE on yearly billing without saying which is the discounted figure.
  • Gem lists SOC 2 Type 2 reports only under NDA via an account manager, and its security page does not state data-residency regions or enterprise SSO options such as SAML.

Plans and pricing

  • Gem Startup Program (1-10 FTE): $130 a month, yearly billing (10% off). Includes AI Sourcing and CRM, analytics, scheduling and ATS. The pricing page also shows $270, and the homepage says $135 a month; confirm which applies.
  • Startup offer (under 30 employees): Free for 6 months. Gem All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off when moving to a paid plan. Companies with 30-100 employees get reduced rates from day one, with no amounts listed.
  • Gem + Your ATS: Custom. Keeps your existing ATS and adds AI sourcing, outreach, scheduling and analytics. Quoted by company FTE count; AI Fraud Detection Agent is an optional add-on.
  • Gem All-in-One: Custom. Includes a built-in ATS and covers recruiting workflows on one bill. Quoted by company FTE count through sales.

Prices were read from the official pricing page and homepage. The Gem + Your ATS and All-in-One prices and per-seat prices are not published, and the pricing page does not say whether the startup figure is billed monthly or annually beyond 'Yearly (10% off)'. Currency is USD; confirm on the live pricing page.
