What is Dex?
Dex is a personal CRM that keeps contacts, notes, reminders, timelines and follow-ups in one place and syncs a LinkedIn network so records stay current. It runs on the web, iOS, Android and a browser extension, and the site also links a desktop app page.
Who it's for
Dex's site positions it for people rather than sales pipelines, and lists professionals, founders, investors, MBA students, job seekers, creators, real estate agents and recruiters. Team-level needs such as SAML SSO and CRM integrations are sold through a separate plan.
Pros & cons
Strengths
- Dex lists the Premium plan with LinkedIn sync up to 2,500 connections, 10 research credits a month, WhatsApp and messaging sync, email and calendar integrations, two-way contact sync, map view, custom fields and contact import.
- Dex's homepage names integrations with LinkedIn, Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Superhuman, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Granola and Zapier.
- Dex says it supports MCP, so Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or another MCP-compatible tool can be connected to read contacts, notes and follow-ups.
- Dex's security page says data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256, that servers and databases are hosted in the US, and that you can export all your data or delete your account at any time.
- Dex says it is funded by subscriptions rather than ads and that it never sells user data to third parties.
- Dex's FAQ lists a 50% student discount for undergraduates and 25% off in the first year for programs such as law and MBA schools (Reported on the FAQ mirror page).
Limitations
- The pricing page offers a 6-day free trial and lists no free plan; its "Get started for free" buttons are sign-up calls to action. The FAQ mirror page says 7 days, so the trial length is not consistent across Dex's pages.
- LinkedIn sync is capped at 2,500 connections on Premium and 9,000 on Professional and Team, and research credits are 10, 20 and 50 a month by plan.
- Mail merge, voice mode, Outlook, notetaker integrations, multiple email account sync, API and Zapier access, and priority support are listed only on Professional or higher; SAML SSO, CRM integrations and team billing are listed on Team.
- Dex's privacy policy says some AI features send notes, contact details, messages and voice recordings to model providers including OpenRouter, OpenAI, Groq and Deepgram, and does not say whether that non-Google content may be used for training; it also says hashed emails and phone numbers may be shared with ad platforms (Google user data is excluded).
- The pricing page gives no annual or quarterly dollar amounts (only "40% off" annual and "20% off" quarterly), and no refund terms; the FAQ mirror page says partial refunds cannot be processed without canceling the subscription.
