About each tool
W

Wordtune
AI writing assistant from AI21 Labs that rewrites text, checks grammar and summarizes. Free plan; Advanced is $4.89 a month billed annually ($6.99 monthly).
Who it is for
The vendor's help pages frame the free Basic plan for limited use, Advanced for more frequent writing, and Unlimited for people who write all the time. Business accounts are described as for teams of three or more professionals.
Strengths
- The plans page lists unlimited spelling corrections and grammar checks on every plan, including free Basic.
- The plans page lists Unlimited as having no limit on rewrites, AI suggestions and AI summarizations, plus premium support.
- The help center says the extension works on sites such as Gmail, Google Docs, Slack Web, Outlook Web, WhatsApp Web and LinkedIn, and that an iOS app exists.
- The FAQ says Wordtune can translate text from ten listed languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Hebrew, Russian, German, French, Portuguese) into English and then rewrite it.
- The editor help page lists Rewrite Full Paragraphs, Smart Synonyms and Contextual Suggestions on all plans, and Ask AI (tone, style, structure guidance) on Advanced, Unlimited and Teams.
- The vendor lists a 30% discount for students, educators and nonprofit/NGO staff, requested through support.
Limitations
- Free Basic is limited to 10 rewrites and AI suggestions per day and 3 AI summarizations per month; the editor help page says Ask AI is not in the free plan.
- The plans page and billing help page both say refunds are not offered; cancellation must happen before the billing cycle renews or the 3-day trial ends. Payment details are required to start a trial.
- The vendor's pages disagree in places: the plans page annual toggle reads -50% while the listed annual prices are about 30% below monthly; the help center describes the student discount as for Advanced and Unlimited with a 3-5 business day review, while the plans page says it covers annual and monthly plans; and the billing page lists PayPal inconsistently.
