Supernormal vs Fathom
Supernormal and Fathom side by side: what each one is, what it costs to start, and whether you can try it free. Everything below comes from the vendors' own sites and other public sources, not from hands-on testing.
Neither tool is ranked above the other here. These are research-based profiles, not hands-on tests. Starting price is the lowest listed paid plan per month (annual-billing equivalent where the vendor lists one), as shown on the vendor's own site when we last checked. Prices change, so confirm on the vendor's site.

About each tool
S

Supernormal
AI notetaker that captures meetings without a bot and turns notes into documents using credits. Free has 15 credits a month; Team starts at $20 a month (monthly billing).
Who it is for
Its homepage is aimed at agencies that turn client meetings into deliverables, and its pricing is meant for individuals and teams that want notes plus follow-up documents. The Business tier adds SSO, audit logs and admin controls for organizations.
Strengths
- Supernormal lists a Free plan at $0 with no credit card, including the bot-free desktop notetaker, unlimited projects and an MCP connection to other tools.
- Team and Business list unlimited seats with credits shared across the account, so adding members does not add a per-seat fee.
- Supernormal's help center says unused credits roll over to the next month on monthly plans and for up to two years on annual plans.
- Supernormal's security page lists SOC 2 (report under NDA), HIPAA support with a Business Associate Agreement, a GDPR Data Processing Agreement, TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest.
- Supernormal says that on paid plans customer data is excluded from training AI models, and its Gmail integration page says that integration is free on all plans.
Limitations
- Credit use depends on task type and complexity, and the help center gives no per-task cost, no statement of what happens when credits run out, and no credit-per-meeting figure. Extra credits can be added from the Billing page.
- Supernormal's security page says the no-training commitment applies to paid plans and does not state the Free-plan treatment; its Terms (which still use the older Starter, Pro and Business tier names) allow de-identified data use for training on Starter and say payments are non-refundable in U.S. dollars by credit card.
- Supernormal's pricing page, its help center and its Terms do not fully agree: the live pricing page showed $0 for Team and Business, the help center shows $20 and $40, and the Terms and a legacy help page still describe the old seat-based tiers.
F

Fathom
AI meeting notetaker for Zoom, Meet and Teams with a free plan; paid plans start at $15 per user a month billed annually (Team, 2-user minimum).
Who it is for
Fathom sells individual plans (Free, Premium) and team plans (Team, Business, Enterprise), so it suits solo users as well as teams that want shared call libraries. Its Business tier adds CRM field sync, Deal View and coaching scorecards aimed at sales-style use; Fathom says phone calls are not supported.
Strengths
- Fathom's pricing page lists unlimited recordings and transcriptions on every plan, including Free, and offers a choice of bot or bot-free capture (bot-free is marked beta).
- Fathom says it works on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Slack huddles, with bot-free capture on Mac and in-person meetings through the iOS app.
- Fathom's help center says transcription covers 38 languages, and CRM sync to HubSpot, Salesforce and Close works on Free and Premium for up to 3 users per email domain.
- Fathom's overview page names integrations including Asana, ChatGPT, Claude, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, Slack, Notion and a public API and MCP.
- Fathom says its AI subprocessors (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) do not train on user data, and reports SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR compliance; it will sign a DPA on request.
- The pricing page shows a 90 day guarantee on all plans, a free Team offer for eligible startups (up to 2 years) and 10 free seats for qualifying nonprofits.
Limitations
- Fathom says it uses de-identified customer data to improve its own AI models (opt-out in My Settings; Team admins can opt out all users), and that all data is stored in the United States.
- Fathom's own pages differ on languages: the overview page lists native transcription and summaries in seven languages (Premium and Team) with Ask Fathom translating into 29 more, while the help center says 38 transcription languages. The pricing page's feature grid is also hard to map to each plan.
