Localazy vs Lokalise

Localazy and Lokalise side by side: what each one is, what it costs to start, and whether you can try it free. Everything below comes from the vendors' own sites and other public sources, not from hands-on testing.

Neither tool is ranked above the other here. These are research-based profiles, not hands-on tests. Starting price is the lowest listed paid plan per month (annual-billing equivalent where the vendor lists one), as shown on the vendor's own site when we last checked. Prices change, so confirm on the vendor's site. How this site works.

Key differences

Localazy lists a free tier and Lokalise does not.

Localazy has the lower starting price ($34/mo against $149/mo for Lokalise). The cheapest plan rarely has the same limits or features, so compare plans before choosing on price.

Both are in our Translation & Localization category.

About each tool

Localazy

Translation management platform for software, priced by source keys; Free covers 200 keys. Paid plans start at $34 a month billed annually ($41 monthly).

Who it is for

It suits software and product teams that keep text strings in code, design files or connected tools and want many languages managed in one project. Localazy says every plan, including Free, has unlimited project users, projects, languages and words, and sizes plans by the number of managed source keys.

Strengths

  • Localazy lists unlimited project users, projects, languages and words on every plan, and says translating into additional languages does not use extra source keys.
  • The Free plan covers up to 200 source keys (shared across all projects on the account) and, per Localazy docs, includes the CLI, the Android and Swift SDKs, a glossary, translation memory and community translations (ShareTM).
  • Localazy lists CLI, Translation API, Android SDK, iOS and macOS SDK, Releases, custom plurals and format conversions, plus Localazy CDN and over-the-air (OTA) updates for mobile apps, on Professional.
  • Autopilot adds webhooks, automations, automated machine translation, DeepL as a provider and integrations that Localazy lists as Figma, Strapi, Storyblok, Intercom, Zendesk, Zapier, Directus and Webflow.
  • Localazy says machine translation suggestions inside the editor are free, and that Localazy AI uses your glossary, style guide, key names, notes and previous translations as context.
  • Localazy says you can cancel anytime with no extra fees, upgrades take effect immediately with proportional billing, and every new account gets a 14-day trial of the Business plan.

Limitations

  • Plans are sized by managed source keys (Free 200, Professional from 1,000, Autopilot from 3,500, Business from 10,000). On Free, the pricing FAQ says that after you reach the limit you keep access but cannot publish changes until you upgrade.
  • Machine translation and AI used in bulk or automated workflows consumes credits (1 credit = $1). The pricing page does not state how many credits each plan includes. Tier pages show 'up to $11' (Professional) and 'up to $25' (Autopilot), and a July 2025 Localazy post listed $5, $15 and $32 for Professional, Autopilot and Business (Reported, older). Extra credits start at $10 and do not expire; human translation, CDN and OTA are billed by usage.
  • Localazy docs say suggestions are free but subject to a fair use limit of 2 million characters per month. The docs give no fair use figure for batch or automated translation.
  • Features depend on tier: webhooks, automations and DeepL are on Autopilot and above; project branching and SSO-related features are described on Business (Localazy's 2023 post), and SSO, audit logs, SLA and compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR) are listed for Enterprise. Localazy says it does not offer refunds.
  • Localazy's own pages disagree in places: the Professional and Autopilot tier pages show 1,000 and 3,500 source keys in the header but 200 in the organization-limits table; the pricing FAQ still uses $89 and $199 examples; and the machine translation docs list Google on Free while the Free plan docs list Amazon Translate. I did not find a data-use or AI-training statement on the pages I read.

Lokalise

Localization management platform for translating software and apps. Explorer is $149 a month billed monthly; annual price not shown.

Who it is for

Lokalise's developer and plan pages target product, engineering and localization teams that manage translations across several projects, repositories and design tools. Its plans scale advanced seats, integrations, quotas and governance features from Explorer to Enterprise.

Strengths

  • Lokalise's help center says billing is based on processed words, not the number of keys, that translation keys are unlimited, and that hosted words and translator and reviewer seats are unlimited on paid plans.
  • Lokalise lists Git sync with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure Repos, a REST API, a Go-based CLI, webhooks, and OTA SDKs for iOS, Android and Flutter.
  • Lokalise lists integrations with Figma, Jira, Contentful, Webflow, WordPress, Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage, and says it supports 300+ languages and file formats such as .strings, .xliff, .json, .po, .resx and .xlsx.
  • Lokalise's developer page lists an MCP server that gives Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP-compatible tools access to a project, plus custom AI profiles that use translation memory and glossaries, and AI Scoring against MQM criteria.
  • Lokalise's security page lists a SOC 2 Type II assessment, ISO 27001 and 27017 certification, GDPR compliance with a named Data Protection Officer, and customer data stored on AWS infrastructure in EU regions.
  • Lokalise's help center says every plan includes API access (capped at 6 requests per second), and that paid plans include unlimited OTA requests with data transfer limited by plan (10 GB a month on Explorer up to 500 GB on Enterprise).

Limitations

  • Each plan has fixed yearly quotas (processed words, Pro AI words) plus monthly OTA data; Lokalise says the affected feature stops working when a limit is exceeded, unused quota does not roll over, and some metrics can be topped up to a stated maximum.
  • Features are tiered: glossary, translation memory and in-context editors start at Growth; branching, versioning, user groups and two-factor authentication start at Advanced; SSO, audit logs, personalized AI models and a dedicated CSM are Enterprise. Growth does not include SSO.
  • Lokalise's pages disagree on Growth: 300,000 processed words and 50,000 Pro AI words a year on the Growth and new-plans pages, versus 225,000 and 40,000 on the available-plans page. Lokalise's developer page also says Git sync with branching is on all plans, while the plans article reserves branching for Advanced and up.
  • Lokalise's AI statement says customer content may be used to improve its services unless the customer opts out through the AI Addendum, and that its internal AI Scoring model can be trained on customer content with consent; it says third-party LLM providers may not train on it. The statement is internally inconsistent on whether this is opt-out or opt-in.
